Pawan Singh Faces Criticism and Challenges Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections

Pawan Singh, the renowned Bhojpuri singer and BJP candidate for Lok Sabha Elections 2024, has found himself embroiled in controversy and facing allegations from Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders regarding his treatment of Bengali women in his music videos and movies.

TMC’s Babul Supriyo shared posters of Singh’s videos and movies, accusing him of mocking and targeting Bengali women. In response, Singh challenged Supriyo to prove the allegations and vowed to quit singing and politics if they were substantiated.

Singh, known for hits like “Lollipop Lagelu,” has faced previous criticism for alleged vulgarity in his songs, with his 2008 album stirring controversy. Despite these challenges, Singh remains a prominent figure in Bhojpuri music and has acted in several movies.

His candidacy for the Asansol Lok Sabha seat in West Bengal, previously held by TMC leader and actor Shatrughan Singh, has stirred debate and intensified scrutiny of his artistic work. The upcoming elections will test Singh’s ability to navigate these controversies while seeking political office.
